sunday road trip

its very cold here, snowing again yesterday and sub zero temperatures today. brrrrr. eating tomato and chilli soup to help warm up, yum!

the big freeze

it has been snowing here the last few days. i love snow, but it feels like the country has ground to a halt due to record low temperatures and treacherous road conditions. its freezing here especially as my boilers packed in. so its time to get hyggelig with woollens, blankets, hot water bottles, lots of hot chocolate, snowboots, scarfs and snuggly cats.

before all the leaves fall off the trees

i was lucky enough to be taken a little trip to fort william last weekend, when i got to see rural scotland in all its autumn splendor (before all the trees go baldy), stopping off at the wonderful drovers inn for yummy food eaten by an open fire.

happy days.

it has been a very long time since i have been to see any live music, so it was a wonderful and rare treat at the weekend to hear frazey ford and her new band play. wow, frazey has such an amazing voice. she is also one third of the be good tanyas, who sing one of my very favourite songs.

so nice to get out the city and get into nature. especially lovely at this time of year when the ground is covered with crunchy leaves, acorns and pinecones. oh how i love october.

a nip in the air

what's going on? red and golden berries on the trees, leaves changing colour and falling to the ground, a nip in the air.....it must be autumn. naoooooooooooooooooooooo! im not ready! yes i know it's my favourite time of the year but autumn would be much more welcome here if us scots had had a proper summer first! ah well whinge over, now it's time to embrace the changes in all their glory!

london design festival 2010 (wish i was there part 6)

one of the very many (over 200) amazing exhibitors at tent london is showshow 'sustainable danish design with a loving touch'. i am drawn to these capulo and condessa chairs from oficina kreativa, not only because they are based on classic mexican designs from the 1950's but also the fact that the designers engage socially with the factory in a low income region of mexico, working with issues such as saftey, fair wages, equal rights and make sure all the plastic used is recycled and free of toxic metals.
